Google Glass

Google Glass is having a big ONE DAY event tomorrow April 15, 2014! Google released a plan to expand its Explorer program with a limited one-day promotion that allows anyone in the U.S. to buy Google Glass for $1500. Google has not released the device commercially yet, but the official commercial release of Google Glass is expected to come later this year.

If you were raised watching movies like The 6th Day, The Fifth Element, Minority Report, and any other great Sci-Fi films like I was, then you must be as excited as I am to see something of this technological nature being commercially made. The Google Glass is an amazing technological tool that is sure to change the way humans do things; just like GPS and smartphones have changed how we live our lives.

Google Glass is wearable technology that is a computer with an optical head-mounted display (OHMD). It was developed by Google with the mission to produce a commercial and universal computer. Google Glass displays information to the user in a smartphone-like, hands-free format. Users can communicate with the Internet via language voice commands.

Google Glass features:

  • Touchpad: A touchpad is located on the side of Google Glass, which allows users to control the device by swiping through a “timeline”-like interface displayed on the screen. When a user slides backward, Google Glass shows current things, like weather and upcoming events. When you slide forward, it shows past events, such as phone calls, photos, circle updates, etc.
  • Camera: Google Glass can take photos and record 720p HD videos. Google Glass can also show the world what you are seeing – with live video sharing.
  • Display: The Explorer version of Google Glass uses a Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCoS), field-sequential color, LED illuminated display.
  • Google Glass will show you text messages, as well as emails you receive, and allow you to reply to them via voice commands.
  • Googling things will be a lot easier with the new Glass. Simply ask a question and the device will pull the answer from the internet.
  • The widely used Google Maps are integrated into Glass, so that users will be able to chart the course of their journey or look up locations or establishments via voice commands.
All these features will make for the ultimate wearable smart-device. The Google Glass is the next stage in mobile computing and it’s the most anticipated gadget. I’m sure we’ll see more and more of wearable technologies as the years come. For one day only, you can get ahead of the curve and purchase your very own Google Glass and join the Explorer program. Google said spots in the program are limited, but did not reveal exactly how many people might be able to join the Explorer program. One of those spots could go to you!

Even though I’m very excited for this new and innovative device, and I really want to get my Minority Report/Sci-Fi in real life on, I think I’ll wait to get mine. I’ll get my first Google Glass when the Google Glass 5 is out and the original Google Glass is $99.99.

Google Glass will be available to anybody in the U.S. for one day only -- tomorrow April 15, 2014 Google will release Google Glass Explorer program to the public. Learn more about Google Glass before you get your hands on the most anticipated wearable technology!
